Onder het pseudoniem Le Corbusier groeide de Zwitserse architect, designer en stedenbouwkundige Charles-Edouard Jeanneret (1887-1965) vanaf 1925 uit tot een van de belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers van Het Nieuwe Bouwen. Zijn modernistische stijl blinkt uit door zijn eenvoud en evenwicht, waarbij ruimte, licht en vorm subtiel op elkaar inwerken.
